44-year-old charged with break and enter in vacant unit

Upon arrival, officers noticed one of the doors had sustained damage from an apparent break-in

Sault Ste. Marie Police have charged a 44-year-old man with break and enter and failure to comply with a probation order after he was found in a vacant multi-unit residential building. 

Shortly after midnight on Dec. 28, a 911 caller reported a break and enter in progress at a vacant building in the 700 block of Wellington Street East. 

“Upon arrival, officers noticed one of the doors had sustained damage from an apparent break-in. While clearing the unit, officers located the accused coming out of an adjacent unit through a hole in the wall,” police said in a release. 

Kenneth Megginson was arrested, charged with:

  • Break and Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order

Megginson was held in custody pending a bail hearing. 

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Megginson is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
