4 face drug charges after police stop stolen vehicle in Cathcart area (4 photos)

Responding officers seized suspected fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine and heroin

Four people face a number of drug-related charges after officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in the area of Cathcart Street and Beverly Street early this morning.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that the driver attempted to evade police before colliding with a parked vehicle and two police vehicles.

During a subsequent search, responding officers seized suspected fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine and heroin.

Full text of the release follows:

On Oct. 28, 2021 officers with the Crime Suppression Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit, Emergency Services Unit and Patrol Services charged 34-year-old Marilyn Biron, 44-year-old Steven Boissoneau, 38-year-old Shawn Reedy, and 40-year-old Marlene St. Germain with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Around 12:51 a.m. officers observed a pickup truck travelling in the area of Cathcart Street and Beverly Street and determined the vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and at this time the vehicle attempted to avoid police and struck a parked vehicle in 200 block of Gloucester Street and two police vehicles.

Officers approached the vehicle, Mr. Reedy was in the driver’s seat and the three other accused were passengers. All four were arrested.

During a subsequent search of the area, officers located:
    •    approximately 40 grams of a substance believed to be fentanyl (purple, pink and dark pink)  
    •    approximately 35 grams of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine
    •    approximately 44 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine
    •    1.86 grams of a substance believed to be heroin  
    •    a counterfeit $100 American bill
    •    approximately $1,700 in Canadian currency

The estimated street value of the narcotics seized is $29,186.

A search of Mr. Reedy found him to be in possession of a concealed knife.

Further investigation revealed Ms. St. Germain was wanted for failing to appear in court.

Ms. Biron is charged with:
    •    possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3
    •    possession of a controlled substance
    •    possession of property obtained by crime x3
    •    possession of counterfeit money

She was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 20, 2021.

Mr. Boissoneau is charged with:
    •    possession of a controlled substance for the turpose of Trafficking x3
    •    possession of a controlled substance
    •    possession of property obtained by crime x3
    •    possession of counterfeit money
    •    breach of probation  
    •    breach of recognizance x2

He was held for bail court.

Mr. Reedy is charged with:
    •    possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3
    •    possession of a controlled Substance
    •    possession of property obtained by crime x4
    •    possession of counterfeit money
    •    possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
    •    carrying a concealed weapon
    •    dangerous driving
    •    breach of probation x2
    •    driving while under suspension (Highway Traffic Act)

He was held for bail court.

Ms. St. Germain is charged with:
    •    possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x3
    •    possession of a controlled substance
    •    possession of property obtained by crime x3
    •    possession of counterfeit money
    •    breach of recognizance – fail to appear in court

She was held for bail court.
