37-year-old accused of driving while impaired by drugs

Police have charged Christopher Dawson with impaired by drugs after officers spotted him driving erratically yesterday afternoon.

In a news release issued today, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service states that the accused was arrested after performing poorly on a drug recognition evaluation.

Full text of the news release follows:

On March 22, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 37-year-old Christopher Dawson with impaired driving – alcohol and drugs.

At 2:25 p.m. officers observed a vehicle driving erratically in the area of Queen Street East and Bruce Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop and upon speaking with the accused developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs.

He was given a drug recognition evaluation, which he performed poorly, and he was arrested.

He is charged with impaired driving – alcohol and drugs. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 26, 2021.
