One person is facing several charges after being arrested Saturday.

Sault Ste. Marie Police say their investigation began on New Year’s Day when officers checking into an unrelated incident were told the accused had committed multiple offences over the past several months, including:

  • In March 2024, the accused allegedly forcibly confined a victim, kicked them in the mouth—causing serious physical injuries, threatened them, and stole money from them three times—once while wielding a knife.
  • In October 2024, the accused allegedly punched a victim in the face.
  • In December 2024, the accused allegedly stole money from a victim.
  • On Jan. 1, 2025, the accused allegedly pushed a victim to the ground, put their knee on the victim’s neck, and was in possession of a firearm.

Police say the accused and the victim are known to one another.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, officers were sent to the 200 block of Wellington Street West to investigate a report of an unwanted person.

Arriving officers found and arrested the accused.

“A search of the accused located approximately nine grams of suspected fentanyl, drug packaging materials, and a debt list,” police said in a news release.

“The total estimated street value of drugs seized is approximately $1,350.”
