33-year-old charged with brandishing three knives on Strand

An investigation revealed when the accused was asked to leave the residence, she brandished three knives and walked toward the victim in a threatening manner, police said

On Sunday, Sault Ste. Marie Police officers charged a 33-year-old woman with assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a probation order at around 2:50 a.m.. 

A 911 caller reported a disturbance in the 0-100 block of Strand Avenue. 

“An investigation revealed when the accused was asked to leave the residence, they brandished three knives and walked toward the victim in a threatening manner,” police said in a news release. 

“The victim and the accused are known to one another through a third party, who was also present. No physical injuries were reported.”

Emily Murphy was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on April 7, police said.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
