The full release from Sault Police follows:

On September 28, 2023, officers with Patrol Services charged 31-year-old Devon Neveau with three counts of assault and several other offences.

Around 8:00 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a disturbance in the 600 block of Wellington Street West. Investigation revealed the accused had kicked over the victim’s garbage bin and assaulted them when confronted. The accused had punched the victim and pushed a second victim to the ground. The accused fled the scene before police arrived.

Around 9:00 p.m., 911 Communicators received a report of another disturbance in the area of Wallace Terrace and Patrick Street. The caller reported there was a person outside screaming threats. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect described by the caller, who also matched the description of the suspect from the earlier assault incident.

Officers identified the suspect as the accused and advised them they were under arrest. When attempting to arrest them, the accused pulled away and went inside the residence. The accused then grabbed hold of an officer and attempted to put them in a headlock. Police took physical control of the accused, who actively resisted by kicking, punching, and spitting on officers. The accused uttered multiple threats to officers while being transported to the police station and kicked another officer while being taken to their cell.
