On May 8, 2022, officers with Patrol Services charged 24-year-old Collin Kimewon with operation while impaired.

Around 8:00 p.m. officers responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Goulais Avenue and Second Line West. Upon arrival, officers observed the accused next to a vehicle. Through the investigation officers discovered the accused had been driving an SUV at the time of the collision. Upon speaking with the accused, officers developed grounds to believe his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

Upon attempting to place the accused under arrest, he resisted and attempted to pull away. Officers gained control of the accused and he was arrested. While in police custody, the accused grabbed an officer’s firearm and attempted to disarm the officer and tried to bite them. The officer stopped the accused from accessing the firearm.

Officers attempted to get a breath sample in an approved device, but the accused refused.

He is charged with,

  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and/or Drug
  • Disarming a Peace Officer
  • Assaulting a Peace Officer
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on June 13, 2022.
