A 19-year-old is charged with impaired driving after Sault police say they found a man passed out in a vehicle at an intersection on Carmen’s Way.

Police say they were called to the intersection at around 1 a.m. today.

“Upon arrival, they observed the vehicle described in the report stopped at an intersection,” says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The vehicle did not move despite the traffic light turning green and cycling through to red again.”

Officers say they tried to speak to the driver, who was “minimally responsive.” Two breath samples came back over the legal limit, police allege.

Tyrel Raddatz is charged with two counts of operation while impaired.

He was released on an appearance notice and is due back in court on Sept. 11.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
