The 7AC Champ(ion) first flew in 1944 and went into full production in in 1945. 7200 were produced before production was ceased in 1951.

The Aeronca Champ, C-FEJJ, was donated by Dan Campbell of Richard’s Landing, St. Joseph Island.

PRIMARY USE:
The US Army found them useful for liaison and communication functions and ordered over 400 in 1947.
HISTORY:
The Champ’s and the Aeronca Chief were built around at the same time and share over 70% of their parts. The principle difference between the two is the champ has tandem seating with control by joystick. It can be flown solo from the front seat whereas the Chief is slightly wider to accommodate side-by-side seating, with control by yoke.

Get “buggy” with Entomica Insectarium when you select the Adventure Pass admission option. Our Event Centre is perfect for weddings, birthdays, and corporate and social functions.
