About Us
The Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District is a registered charitable organization.
Our mission statement is to improve the quality of life for people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and to provide support for their care partners and family.
Since 1985 our team of compassionate and knowledgeable professionals provide essential services that help persons with living with dementia and their families. Services such as Education, family support and counselling, recreation therapy and the Minds in Motion Program have been shown to improve quality of life and can help delay admittance into a Long Term Care Home by a few years.
The local Alzheimer Society is fortunate to be partially funded from the Provincial Government, but relies on generosity of our community to help meet growing needs. The local Society is expected to fundraise 45% of the operational budget, which amounts to over $400,000.00 a year for these front line services.
All fund raised dollars remain local with the exception of an annual donation to research to help find a cure.
