Considered the “Cadillac” of the skies with a leather interior, the Stinson Reliant was a solid little bushplane loved by executives. But the Stinson is not to be confused with a modern bushplane – there was no heat and the engine needed to be heated with a blowtorch in the winter. The Stinson Reliant was the first aircraft in history to regularly perform water bombing. The Ontario Provincial Air Service primarily used the Stinson for this purpose from 1937 to 1948. The CBHC’s Stinson was acquired from the Western Canada Aviation Museum in Winnipeg.
