Designed by Fairchild in 1946, the Husky was an early competitor for the De Havilland Beaver. Fairchild incorporated many features requested by bushplane operators – a metal fuselage, rear-loading cargo door, etc.. Unfortunately, pilots loved the rear-loading cargo hold so much, they often overloaded it causing the plane’s centre of balance to be compromised. In addition, the plane was severely underpowered. Out of 12 Huskies built, 9 crashed. This particular Husky was the last to be built. It spent its career with Sudbury’s Nickel Belt Airways and later the Saskatchewan Government, Island Lake Flying Service and Watson Lake Flying before crashing in 1976 in British Columbia.

Sessions are $50 and include an 8”x10” print and a digital file for social media. Proceeds support the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. This option will be offered upon notification of successful bid.
