OTTAWA - The crew of an air ambulance was hit with a laser, Monday evening, while flying over Ottawa.
Ornge says its crew was en route to an Ottawa hospital when they were hit with a green laser.
It is illegal to possess a hand-held laser with more than 1 mW of power outside of a private dwelling, within a 10-kilometre radius of airports and certified heliports.
If convicted of intentionally shining a laser at an aircraft, you could face up to $100,000 in fines, up to five years in prison, or both.
Ornge says shining lasers at aircraft also puts the safety of its patients, crew and aircraft at risk.
The air ambulance service says it has notified police of the incident.
