The official results of Thursday's election have been submitted, with Ontario PC candidate Chris Scott confirmed as the winner in the Sault Ste. Marie riding.
With only 118 votes separating them in the unofficial count at the end of the night on Thursday, Ontario NDP candidate Lisa Vezeau-Allen did not concede the election to Scott.
In the official count submitted Monday, 114 votes separated Scott from Vezeau-Allen, said the local returning officer, Brian Stinson.
"Building on our comments from election night, I'm very excited to be heading down to Queen's Park right now for MPP-orientation and onboarding as Sault Ste. Marie's newly-elected MPP," said Scott in a text on Monday by way of his campaign manager Ross Romano.
"More to come on the work front after the swearing in," he added.
During Scott's victory party on Thursday, he thanked the other candidates on the ballot – in Sault Ste. Marie and beyond.
“That takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there, put your life in the public eye,” he said.
“It's good for democracy, and I want to thank everyone that stepped up and put their name on a ballot.”
Last Thursday's results confirm the tightest local race since 1905.
Those official results have been submitted to Elections Ontario and shared with the candidates in the riding.
