Gurwinder Dusanjh has been named as the Liberal candidate for the Sault Ste. Marie riding in the upcoming provincial election.

The website for the Ontario Liberal Party has named Gurwinder Dusanjh as the candidate for Sault Ste. Marie in the upcoming provincial election.

SooToday has reached out to the party for contact details for the candidate.

On LinkedIn, Dusanjh lists himself as candidate for the Ontario Liberal Party. His profile indicates he is currently a senior customer service representative for BMO Financial Group. It also says he studied at Algoma University.

Although he is listed among the candidates on the Ontario Liberal Party website, Dusanjh's name does not currently appear on the Elections Ontario list of candidates for the Sault.

In 2022, Aidan Kallioinen, an 18-year-old high school student from Espanola, was chosen as the Liberal candidate the week that nomination papers were due, before the party turfed him and went with Liam Hancock the day before papers needed to be filed.

Other parties have also announced their candidates for the riding.

PC Leader Doug Ford chose Chris Scott, the first candidate who announced that he was running, without holding a local vote. Scott was announced as the PC candidate on Jan. 28.

Members of the NDP’s local riding association held a vote on Jan. 30 to choose Lisa Vezeau-Allen to be their candidate.

And Arnold Heino is running for the New Blue party.

According to Elections Ontario, candidates have until 2 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Feb. 13 to file their nomination paper.

Voters will head to the polls on Feb. 27.

SooToday will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
