2:47 a.m. update:
Andre Trahan, the business' owner stood behind police tape shortly before 2 a.m. as firefighters continued to battle flames on the roof of the structure. He tells SooToday he was at the building when the fire broke out. He said he heard a tenant shout 'Fire! Fire!'.
Trahan said he and others checked the building to make sure people got out.
"Every room," said Trahan.
1:50 a.m. update
Fire fighters have moved back from the building and flames have broken through the roof.
The whole roof of the building is engulfed in large flames, climbing as high as 10 feet into the night sky.

Fire has struck the city's only adult entertainment venue.
Large amounts of smoke can be seen pouring from the 89 Hudson Street address, now The Dime Nightclub, formerly known as Studio 10.
A city bus is on scene and members of the Canadian Red Cross appear to be tending to people displaced by the fire.
Queen Street West is blocked off for a block either side of the scene and two aerial trucks are spraying the roof of the building and its upper floor.
The call came in shortly before midnight tonight.
