Rain clouds cleared to give several hundred Sault Ste. Marie Michigan residents a parade to remember this 4th of July holiday.
An array of floats, tractors, boats and dancers lined up around 6 p.m. in the parking lot behind Asian Buffet. They set off for W. Portage Avenue shortly after 7 p.m.
Community members and visitors eagerly waited, dispersed down Ashmun Street and Portage Avenue. Some were decked out in red, white and blue to show their proud patriotism. This included furry leashed family members.
Kids laughed and played as they chased after Tootsie Rolls, Dum Dums and Jolly Ranchers. Seamore even joined in on the fun, riding in a Lake Superior State University float.
The parade ended around 8:10 p.m. to allow spectators for a couple hour break before fireworks began at 10:15 p.m.
Hundreds more filled Brady Park and nearby areas to watch the show.
That was about the time the rain started to fall, but sparks of color lit up the night sky regardless.
The holiday weekend is over and it is back to the grind for many.
