Northland Music announced this morning that the local music store is in the process of becoming a Long & McQuade location.
Northland, which is marking its 35th year in business this year, dropped the news this morning in a post to its Facebook page.
"From now until September we will continue as Northland Music. In September, we will officially switch over," says the release.
Mark Mizzi will stay on as the new store's manager, assisted by Bob Croteau.
Long and McQuade describes itself as the largest musical instrument chain in the country, with more than 70 locations across Canada. The nearest Long & McQuade location is in Sudbury. Apart from selling instruments, the company also offers rentals, repairs and lessons.
Northland says it expects to hire new staff in preparation for the switchover "when the new store is close to being finished." Resumes are being accepted at Northland's Queen Street East store.
