Active COVID cases drop by 23: APH

The number of active COVID-19 cases is down by 23 in the latest update from Algoma Public Health.

APH is also reporting a drop in hospitalized patients with COVID as well with eight people in hospital as of Thursday afternoon.

There are currently four ICU patients with confirmed COVID-19 in Algoma.

The number of confirmed cases in the region rose by 32 on Thursday to a total of 5,641, of which 3,437 cases were confirmed in 2022.

The number of resolved cases is up by 55 to 5,266.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
