Tyson Franz says a trip and a dog sitter for Lager might be in store after his big win

The numbers really lined up — the number 50, that is — for Sault Area Hospital Foundation 50/50 draw winner Tyson Franz.

The longtime supporter of SAHF’s 50/50 fundraiser celebrated his 50th birthday in April, and also took home a $77,052 jackpot in the April 30 50/50 draw.

Franz’s lucky number (A-5660078) was drawn electronically, and he was called immediately, the SAHF said in a news release.

Franz said he was thrilled to get the call that he won.

“I buy tickets every month," he said. "It’s a great way to support the hospital.”

Franz doesn’t have plans for his winnings yet, but a trip and a dog sitter may be in his future, the SAHF said.

Franz wasn’t the only winner this month – April’s Early Bird, Todd Barber of Desbarats was the lucky winner of $10,000 on April 17 with ticket A-3411307.

“Each lottery ticket purchase helps us fund much-needed equipment at SAH, so everyone in the Algoma region can have access to excellent care," said Teresa Martone, executive director for SAHF.
