Some interesting things SooToday learned at The Machine Shop Wednesday night:
- Scott Anderson of Finger Eleven just got Instagram and wonders if Facebook "is still a thing"
- I Mother Earth wishes they wrote Finger Eleven’s Paralyzer
- Finger Eleven wishes they wrote I Mother Earth’s Levitate and One More Astronaut
- I Mother Earth enjoys dancing around in their underwear on the tour bus to Paralyzer… and apparently it’s disgusting
- Edwin came to rejoin I Mother Earth after branching off on his own because “he was supposed to go right but he went left”
These little trivia nuggets were revealed as part of the special pre-sale ticket holders only acoustic performance and Q&A session that happened prior to the double bill concert featuring Finger Eleven and I Mother Earth. The two bands joined forces for the acoustic set, choosing a surprising array of covers for the setlist, including Ride Like The Wind by Christopher Cross, America’s Horse With No Name, The Kinks’ Lola, and Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill.
When it came time for the full-on, rock-on, fully plugged-in sets, each band delivered the goods. Finger Eleven’s set featured Living in a Dream, Quicksand, One Thing, Tip, Drag You Down, and (naturally) Paralyzer. I Mother Earth grabbed the attention of everyone by opening with Not Quite Sonic, followed by One More Astronaut, Summertime In The Void, Levitate and much more. JJ Thompson of JJ and the Pillars not only acted as acoustic set question-asker, but also warmed up the Machine Shop crowd with an opening set.
A brief survey of the audience prior to show time found that fans were pretty evenly split between Finger Eleven and I Mother Earth. It’s safe to say that both camps departed the venue very satisfied.
Sault Ste. Marie was stop number six on a tour that will take both bands across the country with shows scheduled in Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Calgary, Kamloops, Vancouver, and many others.
