Alan Gerber's show is 'exhilarating and captivates audiences of all demographics'

Celebrate Star Wars Day on Saturday, May 4 (May the 4th be with you!) with some out of this world music by the indomitable firecracker of roots, blues and boogie, Alan Gerber.

Gerber started his long career as singer, songwriter and keyboardist for the rock group Rhinoceros.

The release of two albums on the Elektra label brought Rhinoceros to tour North America with such names as Janis Joplin, BB King, Jefferson Airplane, Traffic, Jimi Hendrix, Steppenwolf, John Lee Hooker, Jeff Beck and others.

"Gerber's amalgamation of boogie-woogie, stunning vocal interpretations and fine musicianship make him an artist of the highest order," the concert's presenters said in a release.

"His show is exhilarating and captivates audiences of all demographics placing him in high demand at festivals, clubs and theatres nationally." 

Gerber has participated in major events such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Blues Festival, Fort Lauderdale Blues Festival, Toronto HarbourFront Blues, Carcassonne Music Festival and many more.

The Sault show is presented by Black Fly Jam in collaboration with Algoma Conservatory Concerts on Saturday, May 4 at 8 p.m. at The Loft, 75 Huron St.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and there's a cash bar.
