Have a great Lake State weekend with LSSU's Fall Fling open house
SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - There's still time for prospective students to register for Lake Superior State University's annual Fall Fling open house, which will be held Oct. 17 on campus.
Registration is open until the date of the event, but prospective students and families who are interested in seeing the LSSU/Canisius hockey game should register by Oct. 9.
The event coincides with LSSU's Great Lake State Weekend, Oct. 16-17.
During the annual open house, prospective students and their families will have the opportunity to experience LSSU first hand, as well as a chance to check out the fall colors of northern Michigan.
A variety of activities that encompass several aspects of the LSSU experience are slated for the day-long event.
"Fall Fling is a great, family-oriented event in which prospective students and their families get to take a good, in-depth look at all aspects of campus life at LSSU," says Al Case, assistant director of Admissions.
Prospective students and their parents will kick off their visit with an orientation to the campus in the Arts Center, where they will receive information on the step-by-step process of admissions and financial aid.
Current LSSU students will take prospective students on campus tours following the orientation.
"The campus tours will enable students and their families to see the entire campus layout," said Case. "From the excellent research labs, to lecture halls and classrooms, and even the residence halls, no aspect of campus life will be overlooked."
After the tours, prospective students and families will head for an academic showcase and activities fair at the Norris Center.
The showcase, which will be presented by department chairs and deans, will give students and their families a chance to see the diversity among academic programs offered at LSSU.
Meanwhile, all university-recognized clubs and organizations will be at the activities fair to sponsor games and answer any questions.
In conjunction with the activities fair, there will be a barbeque and picnic lasting up to the Laker hockey game.
This will give prospective students and their families a chance to talk with students, staff, and faculty in a relaxed, informal environment.
"The structure of the event allows for a balanced and unfiltered experience that encompasses the academics, campus life, and social experience of students who attend LSSU," Case added.
