Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week at Sault College
Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week is taking place October 15 to 20 at Sault College.
Different events and information booths planned throughout the week are geared towards making students aware of the dangers drug and alcohol abuse can bring.
Tuesday, October 16 - Drug Awareness Speaker Louise Logue will present Street Drugs Business: What the Dealers Don’t Want You to Know.
It is taking place at 5 in the Sault College gym, and is open to the public.
Wednesday, October 17 - students can participate in the “Beer Goggles” Tricycle Challenge.
By wearing fatal vision goggles and attempting to ride a tricycle, students will become aware of how dangerous driving while impaired really can be.
Friday, October 19 - The Sault College Student Administrative Council, along with MADD will be hosting a Candlelight Vigil in honour of all those lost due to drinking and driving accidents.
The vigil will begin at 8:30 in the Sault College courtyard and the public is encouraged to come.
Saturday, October 20 - The Outback will be hosting a Cocktail Mocktail party.
Students will have the opportunity to become aware of their legal limit, while having a great time.
A contest for the best ‘mocktail’ recipe will take place, and prizes will be rewarded!
Toronto-based band M.T. will be performing a live show, doors opening at 8 p.m.
Algoma U and Sault College minors are welcome with proper government issued ID and valid student card.
Any non-Sault College or Algoma U student must be signed in by a Sault College staff or student.
All week long, students will have the opportunity to pledge not to drive while impaired by drugs or alcohol.
