OPP NEWS RELEASE

****************************
Suspended driver receives heavy fines

CHAPLEAU - On March 10 a Sudbury, Ontario resident, Joey Mitchell Bowes, age 21, appeared in Chapleau Provincial Offences court on three separate charges of driving while under suspension; one count of stunt driving as well as breaching a provincial offence probation order.

These incidents had occurred in and around Chapleau as well as Sultan, a small municipality southeast of Chapleau.

Complaints received by Superior East OPP at various times during 2009 resulted in these charges being laid.

The court was told that as well as driving while under suspension, the accused had also been observed performing a stunt while operating an all terrain vehicle resulting in a cracked windshield to a near-by vehicle from flying gravel as well as erratic driving on local streets in Sultan.

As a result of a guilty plea, Justice of the Peace Jean-Marie Blier registered total fines of $9,880 on all counts.
