Finnish Grand Festival to host a ‘Finn-raiser’

SAULT STE. MARIE - The Finnish Grand Festival, with the assistance of Scotiabank, will be hosting a dance fundraiser event on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Great Northern Hotel and Conference Center.

Doors will open at 8pm and the feature band Conga Se Menne beginning at 9 p.m.

Conga Se Menne is a band from Marquette, Michigan with a truly unique style - a mix of blues, funk, Latin, reggae, rock, Caribbean beats and ethnic Finnish sounds.

Appetizers will be provided by Taste of Scandia, a cash bar will be available, and there will be tons of great prizes.

The tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the Finn Grand Fest office (located in the Station Tower, Suite 502) or at one of the local Scotiabank branches.

The fundraiser will give people a chance to get a sneak preview of the different types of entertainment that will appear at this summer’s festival and to get more information on what the festival will offer.

The five-day festival begins on Wednesday, July 28 to Sunday August 1, 2010.

The Festival will be utilizing the Essar Centre as the main facility for the gala dinner, dances and musical entertainment along with a five-day Finnish Marketplace.

The John Rhodes Centre and related facilities will be utilized for the indoor and outdoor sporting events.

There will also be lectures, films, children's events and other entertainment held at many of our local hotels and facilities.

Raimo Viitala, chair of Finn Grand Fest 2010 hopes the fundraiser will allow local people within the community to get out and have some fun.

“This fundraiser will showcase some of the wonderful talent that will appear at the festival and give people a chance to come out and have a great time, while supporting the festival.”

Finn Grand Fest has also recently launched a brand new website!
