After battling Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation for months over freedom-of-information access fees, the Toronto Star has today released findings from its investigation into OLG's untendered contracts. Internal documents obtained by the newspaper show that from 2007 until this year, the lottery corp awarded 52 sole-sourced consulting contracts totalling $5.5 million.
OLG tried to charge the Star $3,224 for the information, but most of the charges were waived after intervention from the office of Finance Minister Dwight Duncan.
