ST. IGNACE, MI - Kewadin Casinos is honored to host The Moving Wall at its St. Ignace location August 20-24, 2009.
The memorial will be open with a special ceremony on August 20 at 3 p.m. and close on August 24 at noon.
There will also be a sunrise ceremony August 24 at 7 a.m.
There is no admission fee.
The Moving Wall is the half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than 20 years.
It was created to enable those who could not travel to Washington, DC to experience the positive power of “The Wall”.
John Devitt, Norris Shears, Gerry Haver and other Vietnam veteran volunteers built The Moving Wall.
It went on display for the first time in Tyler, Texas in October of 1984.
Two structures of The Moving Wall now travel the USA from April through November, spending about a week at each site.
EMTs and therapists who could spend some time volunteering at the exhibit would be very much appreciated.
Volunteers are also needed for:
- Serving or providing food
- Walking the Wall (assisting people with name searches)
- Guarding the Wall
- Manning the information/name location station
- Setting up
- Taking down.

Kewadin Casinos owns five casinos in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and employs over 1,000.
The casinos work closely with many community projects and donate annually $140,000 to local organizations and fundraisers.
