It has been some time since I have given any inkling that I was still writing these articles or even still with the living and this is in part because of my last article.
Many of you will remember my last article about my acceptance to a new and emerging publisher IeNovel.com. Yes, this is an online publisher and yes, they are quite new to the industry, but so am I. LOL.
After much feedback from you, my readers and friends and family, I dug deep into the IeNovel.com story, how they work, what they do and who they have published as of yet. I did as one of my readers suggested—to ask this publisher many, many questions before making my decision and received honest answers. These answers and many a sleepless night, tossing and turning, debating and debating came to a finale—my accepting and signing off on my books.
Since this huge turn of events I have been working closely with this publisher on my cover design for Hindsight as well as what name I wanted it to go under—Roxy Sackville, and what the back cover blurb would be.
At the same time I had informed the publisher that I did not want to send through Is, the second novel in this series until I gave it one last polish. To my dismay, this polish has ended up having to be a full re-write.
With Hindsight, I had revised and re-wrote it several times. When I read it over to make sure my storyline flowed properly into the second and third novel I found a huge problem. Not only did Hindsight show all that I had learned since its first write, but now Is seemed amateur in comparison.
Deep down in my soul I knew I could not let it go as is. It would not only sink my whole series—I felt—but it would also show my lack of commitment to the story. If someone enjoyed my first one, saw the writing and then picked up the second one hoping to see the same flow and then it was not there, it would keep them from even looking into buying the final novel. I could not let this happen, not after all I have been through with these novels.
So here I am, sitting with Is—the first version and now its final re-write as well as my plot notes from Hindsight and I keep forging forward. I will rewrite this and I know deep down that when I get to 20/20 I will end up re-writing it as well, but this is the sacrifice I make and have made for this story.
After fighting this long and hard and being denied more than hundreds of times, if I just send through less than I am capable of then I have let myself down. More importantly I will have let down Lily, Ben and Dave and their story—the story they, as well as I, want the world to read and live and enjoy.
In conclusion, Hindsight will be available in November and I am working on a few contests to raffle off free e-books of my novel. To start, anyone interesting in staying in touch with when and where to get copies of Hindsight, please feel free to add me on Facebook—Roxanne Larocque-Sackville with a small note stating your interest, or just email me @ bluebaloo79@yahoo.com. I will compile a list of all the names and on its release date, I will choose two lucky names to receive a free copy. For those of you who don’t win a free copy, my apologies, but feel free to get your copy and enjoy the storyline that I know will get you hooked right to the end.
Thank you
Roxy
