Submission deadline extended for the 2010 Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards

SUDBURY - (October 16) - In order to allow musicians and filmmakers extra time to add the finishing touches to their submissions, the deadline for Music and Film in Motion’s (MFM) seventh annual Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards (NOMFA) has been extended.

Artists now have until Friday, October 23 at 5 p.m. to submit for this year’s program.

“We have received a lot of requests for an extension. We want to try to accommodate people as much as possible and luckily we are able to extend this year’s deadline,” says Dennis Landry, MFM’s executive director. “It is important that we receive all submissions by October 23 in order to meet our juror deadlines.”

The Film Award categories for 2010 are Best Film, Best Director, Best Film Editor, Best Cinematographer, and Best Screenwriter.

The Music Award categories for 2010 are Best Album by a Solo Artist, Best Album by a Duo or Group, Best Songwriter, Best Engineer, and Best Vocal Performance on a Recording.

To be eligible, submissions must have been completed and/or released during the eligibility period from January 1, 2008 to October 16, 2009 inclusively.

Complete eligibility requirements are outlined in the official guidelines, which are available for download at www.thinknorth.ca.

Entrants may submit themselves or be submitted by someone else.

The fees are $8 per submission for MFM members and $25 per submission for non-members.

All submissions must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009.

The winners will be announced during the Awards Ceremony to be held in Sudbury on Saturday, May 1, 2010.
