Are you an aspiring novelist? Closet poet? Or maybe just curious about how one becomes a published author?

On May 8, you can join Judy Penz Sheluk at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library to explore the world of book publishing.

"The road to getting published is paved with good intentions… and horror stories of authors who have had to learn the hard way," the library said in a release.

"Finding Your Path to Publication" explores the ins and outs of five paths to getting published: Traditional (Big 5), Independent Publishers (micro, small, medium, large), Hybrid/Assisted, Self-publishing, and Social Publishing (Wattpat, Inkitt, Blogs, etc.).

"Whether you’re an aspiring author, a published author considering alternative options, or merely curious, you’ll learn tips on getting ready, understanding royalties and contracts, advertising and promotion, and more," the library said.

Copies of Judy Penz Sheluk’s books will be available for purchase and signing.

This workshop runs Wednesday May 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sault Ste. Marie James L. McIntyre Centennial Library, 50 East St. downtown.

This is a free event, although space is limited and registration is appreciated, the library said.
