UPDATE: Nothing found in west-end neighbourhood search, Sault Police say

Multiple police units were investigating a scene near the 200 block of Langdon Road, close to the intersection of Rossmore Road and Farwell Terrace

Wednesday 4:50 p.m. update:

Nothing of interest was found during a search of a ravine in a wooded area at the end of the 200 block of Langdon Road, Lincoln Louttit, spokesperson for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service

Louttit said police were called to the area for the 'potential for something' that was partially buried underneath snow and water in the ravine area.

"Out of an abundance of caution we sent in additional staff," said Louttit. "There was nothing found."

What police did find was a green plastic garbage bin that was partially buried.

Louttit said the public was alerted about the search due to the large number of units that were operating in the area.

"We want to make sure that the community knows when you have that amount of officers showing up somewhere, there's something being investigated," said Louttit.
